Getting started

What is Finpliq?+

Finpliq is a UK finance and compliance platform that helps business owners understand cash, sales, profit, supplier bills, customer invoices and tax obligations in plain English. The accounting records are still proper double-entry records behind the scenes.

Who is it built for?+

It is built for UK sole traders, limited companies, contractors, landlords, small businesses and accountants who want a clearer way to manage bookkeeping and compliance without accounting jargon.

Can I try it before adding real data?+

Yes. Use Explore Finpliq to open a realistic demo company and see the dashboard, invoices, supplier bills, reports and compliance workflow before you set up your own account.

Finpliq Guided

What is Finpliq Guided?+

Finpliq Guided is a monthly bookkeeping service, from £109/month for sole traders, freelancers and contractors (£149/month for limited companies), where a real Finpliq bookkeeper processes your bank statements, categorises transactions, reconciles one agreed account, delivers a monthly summary, and files VAT, CIS, payroll RTI and MTD Income Tax on your behalf inside your existing Finpliq account. It's sold as one package — the software access you need is included, not billed as a separate plan.

What does Guided include?+

Monthly bank-statement processing, transaction categorisation, reconciliation of one agreed bank account, receipt and document organisation, answers to questions about unclear transactions, a monthly bookkeeping health check and profit and loss summary, records kept ready for year-end, VAT/CIS/payroll RTI/MTD Income Tax filed on your behalf, practical email support, and one complimentary Chartered Accountant Bookkeeping Readiness Review every 12 months — usually £129 on its own.

What doesn't Guided include?+

Chartered Accountant sign-off or regulated tax advice, Corporation Tax (CT600), statutory accounts and Companies House filing, and historical catch-up work or volumes above your included allowance. Those are handled by Finpliq Accountant as a separate engagement, or quoted separately.

What if I have more than 150 transactions a month?+

150 transactions and one bank account are included. If you're consistently over that, we'll quote the extra volume before it affects your service — it's never charged silently.

Can you do my VAT return?+

Yes. VAT preparation and filing to HMRC is included in Guided, alongside CIS, payroll RTI and MTD Income Tax.

Can Finpliq run payroll?+

Guided files your RTI (FPS/EPS) submissions to HMRC each payday as part of the monthly service. Running payroll itself — calculating pay, deductions and payslips — uses Finpliq's payroll tools inside the platform, which come with Guided's included software access.

Can you prepare my year-end accounts?+

Not as part of Guided — Corporation Tax (CT600), statutory accounts and Companies House filing are deliberately excluded, so the professional boundary with your accountant stays clear. Finpliq Accountant offers this as a separate, paid engagement — Year-End Complete, at a discounted £219 for Guided subscribers instead of the standard £319, since the monthly reconciliation is already done.

Is Finpliq Guided an accounting firm?+

No. Guided is bookkeeping support delivered inside the Finpliq platform. Regulated tax advice, sign-off and statutory filing are handled separately by Finpliq Accountant, our in-house Chartered Accountant service.

Do I need to change accountant?+

No. Guided is built to work alongside your existing accountant, not replace them — invite them into your Finpliq account so they see clean, organised records directly instead of chasing exports.

Do I still need an accountant?+

For regulated tax advice, sign-off, Corporation Tax and statutory accounts, yes — Guided deliberately doesn't do that work. Many Guided customers keep their own accountant for that, or use Finpliq Accountant.

Can I invite my accountant?+

Yes. From your Finpliq account you can give your accountant secure, time-limited access to your records at any time, whether or not you use Guided.

What happens if my bookkeeping is already behind?+

Tell us before you start. Catch-up work on historical records isn't part of the standard monthly package, but we'll quote it separately so you know the cost before agreeing to anything.

Do Guided customers still get Finpliq software?+

Yes. The business you run Guided on gets the software access it needs — the same features as the Core plan — for as long as Guided is active, without a separate software subscription.

Can I use Finpliq without Guided?+

Yes. Finpliq's Free, Core and Pro plans are self-service software you can use on your own, with no obligation to add Guided.

I have more than one business — can I use Guided on all of them?+

Yes. Each business gets its own independent Guided subscription and its own assigned bookkeeper, billed separately per business. Each one includes its own software access, so it doesn't need a spare slot on your Core or Pro plan either.

Can I cancel?+

Yes. Guided is a standard monthly subscription managed through your billing settings — cancel at any time with no long-term commitment.

Compliance and filing

Can Finpliq file directly to HMRC?+

Finpliq helps you manage VAT, payroll, CIS and Self Assessment workflows in one place. You review the numbers and the supporting business events before anything is sent.

Does it support Corporation Tax and Companies House?+

Yes. Finpliq helps limited companies stay on top of Corporation Tax and Companies House requirements alongside VAT, payroll, CIS and Self Assessment, so you can see what needs attention next.

Does Finpliq replace my accountant?+

No. Finpliq reduces the messy preparation work and gives your accountant cleaner records, better evidence and clearer reports. Your accountant can still review, advise and file where professional judgement is needed.

Daily workflow

How does Finpliq handle supplier bills?+

You can add or upload supplier invoices, track whether they are unpaid, part-paid or paid, drill into supplier balances, and see bills due. The aim is to show 'Bills to pay' clearly while keeping the creditor accounting correct behind the scenes.

Can I import from Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreeAgent?+

Finpliq includes easy migration tools designed to bring across customers, suppliers, invoices, bills, payments and bank business events from the systems you already use. You can preview everything before it is imported.

Can customers send me purchase orders?+

Yes. Finpliq supports customer PO references on invoices and can support PO upload/extraction as a workflow to create draft invoices. This is not a full procurement system; it is focused on helping you get paid correctly.

Security and records

Is my financial data secure?+

Financial data should be encrypted in transit and at rest, protected by account authentication, and never sold. Production deployments should also have audit logs, backups and access controls enabled.

Can I see the business events behind a number?+

Yes. Finpliq's moat depends on drilldowns: dashboard totals, supplier balances, customer balances and reports should lead back to the underlying bills, invoices, payments or business events.

Are tax rates and thresholds kept up to date?+

Finpliq is designed to use legal parameters rather than hardcoded values. Those parameters should be reviewed and updated when HMRC or Companies House rules change.
